Of Rants and Reeds

They had a bad day

Why do people tend to give others their own temper?!

Yeah! I know you had one heck of a freakin' bad day but the hell, why put me in the equation as well. You having a bad headache is enough but still you spread your contagious behavior…

I have this story, of an american customer that Had the worst day of customer service in just one day. Well, it was not because the customer service really sucked, but he was just in the wrong queue at the wrong time. It goes like this.

He called in to ask for support. Our hotline has this automated system, like a voice of an irritating male, that asks you questions just so that it can refer you to the right department, which most of the times refer you to the wrong department anyway. Moving on… he called in and got to the system. It asked him questions like his number, the problem and things like that. The thing is, he answered one question wrongly and he got to a loop inside the system, that took him 40mins to navigate, and ultimately just kicked him out. Frustrated, he called back going into the same system, and this time he just spent 10mins of time before he got to an agent.

This is where I come in.  He got to talk to me. Well, he was somehow relieved to get a human to talk to…well not really that relieved, given I have this not-so-american. You know americans.

Anyhoo, he ranted about the system, him wasting his precious time and so on. Then I had the unfortunate question of "So how can I help you today sir" (Which, my Leader said sounded like "how can I HATE you today"). He said his modem is not working anymore, defective. Well, I pretty much cannot do anything about that but to refer him to someone who can sell him something. I looked at the warranty of the damn thing and saw it was out of warranty for just 2.5months. He got angry with that. He asked to talk to the sales. They are closed, it was like 12 midnight there. He then said "Just give me someone who can disconnect my service!" with F*ck, Sh!t and Damn in that sentence alone. They are also closed for God's sakes, Kasi naman tatawag ka pag business hours hindi pag dis oras ng gabi.

Then he said some comments about my accent and asked from where I was, and the automated system was probably  invented by a "Philippinian" (at this, I almost laughed, coz he did not even know what Filipinos should be called and did not realize that the system was invented by an american, JUST LIKE HIM!). Then he close the call with "you can now f*ck off". Out of wit, I said "Same to you sir, again thank you for…" Then he hung up.

My point, People don't realize how stupid they look when they give out their tempers to people who practically had nothing to do with what happened. Good thing when I am pissed off, I just keep silent and get out of range of people. if not, then I can do better than this poor feller here.
