This is the pre-episode 2 Haven. Complete with fireworks!

At last I found the time to post this. Episode 2 has been like about a week or two old but I still can remember the memoirs of the past episode. It has been a nice experience, and if I can compare it with the next episode, it is truly a haven. An incomparable and memorable scenery that will only exist in our memories.

It all started with the modifications, as they announced there will be 3x exp, PT, drops and mines. All hell broke loose at these announcements since all races wants the experience modification, and want to dominate the neutral areas, namely Cauldron Volcanic Zone and Ether. It was a very hard but fun experience since all three races would need to walk from the HQ to the entrance of the caulsron, thus meeting the two other races there. We PKed, we got killed and we went back for more. It was very fun since you will rarely see the three races battle it out with no techno-alliances.

We also had the chance to level up our characters to a certain level. At least now Potemayo had a glimpse on his level 45 speacialist-summoner. We had to make our way through the battles of sette and join the fray on the hot volacnic area. There we settled for the humbabas, and our party of 4 gradually increased to higher numbers. it was very nice since the drops were good and we were expecting to level up faster.

I also had the urge to upgrade my Solid Intense Sickle Knife. I am an AM and have no use for it so I just upgraded it to +3, until they stopped me. I wanted to make it +4 but they said they will use it first…hahahaha. luckily, the +3 only used 3 keens. Lucky, eh?

Then Chip wars came. We had to vote for an archon before the actual war. One of our guild mates ran for council, and we immediately voted for him. But to no avail, since more Corites chose the current archon. Then, I think to encourage the race to join the chip wars, the archon said, "THIS IS OUR LAST CHIP WARS" which is true, well at the time. We just had to let it pass by. Then she added, "ATTEND IS A MUST". Astounded, we looked at the message then laughed our asses out to find a very critical error on Filipino grammar. We then mocked our votes. "Dapat pala si xushen na lang binoto natin!" we said laughing hardly "Kung sinabi nya yan ng mas maaga, sigurado panalo na siya" still mocking.

Then we made up this cheer for the whole race. Yakumo, enedie and I went to the portal and we made the cheer emoticon! We were syncronized so it was like a dance and some corites did join our cheer. At this time, I cannot breathe because of laughing.

Well, The chip war is a very good one even though we again lost. The techno-alliance is really a bad thing for the corites, but it is nice to see that they see us as a threat. I had like 5k CP from killing alone, having able to kill a high level accretian and some Bellateans.

All was well. We settled for the idea that we wont have RF the next day for we will patch the next episode. We were all excited about the changes, well maybe all to excited…

Hahaha…the next day it is still not down and they said it will be tonight. We have one more CW to attend to to finalize this episode. We are looking forward to Episode 2, and we actually expected too much! Details next post! Hahahaha

Adiktus Top 5

August 30, 2007

Another topic of GM tristan that deserves a post. I can't seem to find a good topic to have a top 5 list on. Top 5 games? Too common. Top 5 players! Nah. Top 5 Companies!? well, I don't even know another gaming company other than Mobius and LU! I cant even find a new and nice thing to have a top 5 on… Until…

I FIND MY TOP 5 ADIKTUS LIST

  Number 5: Me not Hungry
~ Hahahaha… I have experienced this since the Ragnarok days. I would save all my money just to play the game I have been spending most of my time of. I would endure a whole day with only my breakfast just to have sometime to play. Hahah… This is not uncommon to the common player specially the student player, in which you have limited resources and very limited time. I cannot imagine how I did that back in my highschool days, when our class shift was from 7am-5pm. I can strive the whole day with practically nothing down my belly. That time I was known as "Mr. Pure Energy" since I can convert the energy from breakfast into something usable for the whole day, right Yakumo? LOLX

NUMBER 4: This is associated with…

~  I also have experienced  having to think about the game for the whole while, associating everything to what you see in the game itself. I was even addicted to the fact that the poring doll exist and I ordered the plushie with some load. The funny thing is, it never came to me, to my dismay. Also, everytime there is an event, you would go to the location just to see what is happening there. We have experienced going to LU! Live and POGS and joined the chaotic crowd uncertain of what to do. Then we came back home empty handed, but with smiles on our faces.

NUMBER 3: Teh Dream

~ Not my experience but I have a friend, two in fact, that had a weird dream about the game he is playing. First stop: Dota! I have this friend that plays dota i guess 1 year ago. When he was talking to us the same day, he said he was waken by an arrow from Bone Clink's bow. Hahahaah… And also, Yakumo, ehem ehem, had a dream of some wierd random dream, in which he came to a point where there is in this auction that sells elementals, that was invaded by this unknown monster. Hahahah… Luckily, I never remember the dreams I have…

NUMBER 2: May Mods ba?

~ Also one symptom that you are an adiktus metamorphicus is that you can never let a modification pass by. Hey! They announced that there will be 2x EXP and 2x Drops and you will get all restless and think about what will happen when the day comes.

And also, people tend to do the things they do online in real life. Have you seen a a group of friends that say "OMG" by letter even out loud? Have you said to yourself "wala na ako Zeny" when you try to buy something? To tell you the truth, last monday, I said to Potemayo and Yakumo, "May mods kasi ang sweldo nung monday" because it was a holiday. I realized my mistake and we laughed at my stupidity.

NUMBER 1: Withdrawal Syndrome

~ I think anyone can relate to this one. Withdrawal Syndrome is like a mental status in which one is experiencing when he taken apart from something he is addicted to. You tend to do anything just to get what you want.

The last time I had this was when I had to spend 4 days where there is no internet and not even reached by proper phone lines nor TV stations. I had no choice but to think of everything that I want to do, then do it when I come back. The time i came back, I went directly to where i usually play. the next week, I became sick… Hahahahaha…

Anyway, That is all for now. These are all delayed posts since it is only now that i had the time to post. How I wish I can still join GM T's blogging contest, but the third week will is just about finished and I have work to do. Hahaha… I still have the happy days before Episode 2.

This is who we are

August 29, 2007

AFTER A WEEK OR SOMETHING OF BLOG HIATUS, WE ARE BACK!

Hey! This post was suppose to be an entry for GM Tristan's Writing Contest but I had no time to write because of work. Now, I missed two topics that I would have wanted to write about. But anyway, I will still write about it now, for dear mother "blogger's" sake.

The topic: MMOG: Is it a mirror of the real world?

A big question, a simple answer. YES!

Let's start from the beginning. How do we define MMOG. MMOG is a simple community in which we choose to live a virtual life. Huh! For some people, it is a source of income and profit (having to hoard all of the rare items in-game and selling them to other players for Real Money), some for the fame (which they acquire through joining some contests or becoming some strong character) and some just do it for fun.

The fun thing about most MMOG's is that you can choose who you are. you can be the support person that you are, or you could be the killer and let out your evil side come to play. You can also be a business man, having to buy and sell items is never a bad thing. And most of all, you can be the newbie to the game that all he wants to do is level and become stronger.

And hey, this is where the mirror part comes in. A mirror is always three way: the one you are seeing and the one looking back at you. Sometimes, the third part of it, there are people looking at you that you cannot see (in a two way mirror). This is similar to the character you are playing in any game that you see in the public market today. There is always the one you want to be, the job class that you choose. But there is the one that others see in you. The high level that is suppose to help the low levels or the one designed to make their lives miserable.

I can tell you a story of how MMOG's are like mirrors to the real world. I know one character in RF online that all she does is hunt down the bosses and hoard all the elementals that she could put her hands on. Then RF became RMT-based and the bosses she hunt before are much more tougher and stronger, that she cannot hunt it alone. Now, what is she saying?

S> ALICEL ACCOUNT with equips and elems

Doesn't that make her one self-centered, greedy, good-for-nothing, money-centered mafia biyatch? And I bet that is what he/she is in real life. What if she used her character to join the Chip Wars and make the race win? She will be a well loved individual, since she is using her power for the greater good.

But now she is quitting, I am very satisfied. That is one shiatzu down the drain. Sorry, ALICEL, whoever you are. I just truly hate your disposition.

The thing is, what you are in-game in any MMOG out there is just a portrait of what you are in real life. If you can do it on a virtual world, why not on real one.

I am a real support person in real-life, (sorry for the lack of modesty) someone who seeks intelligence and an Role-Player. And in the past games I have played, I have been a mage class, someone who cannot kill alone, but can be very dangerous with company.

There you go… two examples of the mirrored real-life and virtual self. Well, as I think about it, we are the ones controlling and talking for our characters, so it is us that does all the actions.

Changes and Nostalgia

August 22, 2007

Another chapter of my RF life is starting, a new beginning and a new series of challenges, and If I should say so myself, one of the most fulfilling yet regrettable experience I can ever have, changing from Faust to ArchMagus. That statement can be very confusing because of the conflict, but it is fulfilling since now I can deal decent damage to the opposing race, and now I can do more for the race by killing opposing players on CW, but it is regrettable since I did abandoned my summons, specially hecate who I leveled since level 1 and is now 48. I cannot forget how I did it and how it changed my views of hecate. At the time, Isis was the favorite but now, most summoners prefer hecate, specially on episode2 where hecate will be an area-stunner! Hecate = ouch!

Anyway, there has been many changes that I have passed through since closed beta days. And I will never forget them…

Level 50 curse

August 18, 2007

It is much better to look at a scenery than making large comments about how I will be stronger, who I am helping and how I am making myself better. All of those questions don't have answers to them.

How mundane could I possibly get? Anyway, I have never thought that I would even reach level 47 in RF. Maybe it is just peer pressure that got me this far. I was playing since Closed Beta stage and I like Roleplaying better than hard-core levelling. Why? The answer is very simple…
